Conrad W. "Connie" Fries Jr.

August 22, 1934 — May 1, 2025

Conrad W. "Connie" Fries Jr.

Connie was born August 22, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to Conrad Fries Sr. and Margaret (Bokerman) Fries. He is deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his wife of 37 years, Myra. He will also be missed by his son, Dan (Penny) Fries, and step-sons and daughter, Allen (Rhonda) Marsh, Steve (Joanne) Marsh, Carrie (Steven) Slusarski and Anthony Benko, as well as his 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Gerry, David, Tim, Tom and his daughters Lisa and Lori, as well as by his late sister, Elaine (Charlie) Pidcock.

Connie attended the University of Missouri, going on to be a corrugated container salesman for his entire career. He spent many years at Westvaco, Weyerhaeuser Company, and Georgia Pacific. He was a longtime resident of Livonia, Northville, and Plymouth. Connie loved to play golf with his love, Myra, but his true love was playing softball, which he played until he was 80 years old. Connie also had a deep love for travel, especially when shared with Myra, his best friend and partner. Together, they embarked on countless memorable journeys, specifically favoring their many visits to Europe, Aruba, and most fondly, Hawaii.

Connie had a genuine love for people, a warmth that radiated from him and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His easy smile, kind heart, and natural ability to make others feel seen and valued made him a joy to be around. His presence was a constant source of love, wisdom, and encouragement, and he was deeply proud of the family he built with Myra, the love of his life, who shared in all of life’s joys and adventures with him. Above all, he enjoyed being around their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—laughing with them, supporting them, and celebrating their milestones.

Connie’s family will receive friends Sunday, May 4th at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home at 280 S. Main St., in Plymouth for a prayer service at 2 PM with open visitation until 8 PM. Prior to the funeral procession, family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday, May 5th at 1:30 PM. The graveside service will then take place at 2 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Angela Hospice who gave immeasurable, compassionate care to Connie from the very beginning of his time with them to beyond his last breath.
