Coleman Frederick Flaskamp, II, age 83 of Canton passed away on January 9, 2024.

He was born on February 17, 1940 in Bay City, Michigan to his parents, the late Beatrice A. (née Greene) and Coleman F. Flaskamp.  He is the beloved and devoted husband of Shirley Karen (née Markin) Flaskamp; loving father of Laura Flaskamp, Alison (Andy) Goodrich, Coleman Flaskamp, III and Lisa (Ben) Shaft and proud grandfather of Brett Flaskamp, Cameron Flaskamp, Cole Shaft, Jet Shaft and Lauren Goodrich.  He is pre-deceased by his sister Marg Crawford.  He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his nephew, William Crawford.

Coleman moved to Canton, Michigan in 1977.  He retired 45 years ago after a very successful career with Ford Motor Company employed in the Engineering Department at the Michigan Truck Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.  He is a member of U.S.S. Searcher (YAGR/AGR-4) – a ship that was a Guardian-class radar picket ship acquired by the U.S. Navy in 1954.   It was decommissioned on July 1, 1965.   He was a proud YAGR alumni member. 

He was an avid reader, history buff and active in the Michigan Republican Party for several years.  Coleman enjoyed his days of coaching his daughters’ softball teams.  During his retirement years, he loved to travel – especially his trip on an Alaskan cruise.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Schrader-Howell beginning at 4:00 P.M. 

Coleman proudly served his country in the United States Navy and will be laid to rest with Naval Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
