Christine Whitaker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful follower of Jesus, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 13, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, Christine lived a life marked by love, integrity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
Christine’s warm spirit, sharp mind, and deep loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She found joy in the simple things—listening to praise and worship music, getting lost in a good book, and marveling at the beauty of lighthouses. A tech enthusiast long before it was common, she embraced technology and often spent time playing games on her phone, computer, and way back in the day on her Atari system. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family—especially during the Christmas season, when she cherished hearing her children and grandchildren sing carols together.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Amanda (Jeff) Larsen, Carrie (Mark Young) Whitaker, Patty (John) Hoobler, Howard (Debby) Whitaker, and Sarah (Dan) Krompatic. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Alex Larsen, Donny Larsen, Ayden Ross, Emily (Joe) Oudemolen, Seth Hoobler, Sammi (Joe) Fortin, Howie Whitaker, Joey Krompatic, Katie Krompatic, and Megan Krompatic. Christine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vera Hamilton; her siblings Bob Hamilton, Walter Hamilton, Don (Joyce) Hamilton, and Judy Brown.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home (280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI 48170) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service celebrating Christine’s life will follow on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Christine Whitaker lived a life rooted in love, guided by faith, and filled with purpose. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
