Bruno R. Ziomek

February 19, 1932 — June 5, 2021

Bruno R. Ziomek, age 89 of Livonia passed away on June 5, 2021. He was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on February 19, 1932 to his parents, Brownie and Christine (née Dudkevich) Ziomek.

He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Ruth Ziomek; loving father of Christopher (Late wife, Nancy) Ziomek, Tina (John) Collins and the late Keith Ziomek; proud grandfather of Carey Ziomek, the late Christopher Ziomek, Leah (Stephen) Maniace, Christina (Bryan) Henriquez, Nikolai (Melissa) Ziomek and great-grandfather of Carter Ziomek, Jackson Henriquez, Liliana Maniace, Kinsley Maniace and Zeke Ziomek.

Bruno loved to travel with Ruth and was an avid local Detroit sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He enjoyed seeing new places, learning about the local history and trying new foods. When he would return, he would share wonderful stories about his travel and all his experiences. His family was the most important part of his life. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved watching them play their sports. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved being with him, sharing their stories, making him laugh and brightening his day.

He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from April 1952 until March of 1954 and was part of the military support while serving during the Korean War.

Bruno’s family say he was a “very special person”. He was friendly - a real “people-person” who enjoyed socializing. Anyone who met Bruno liked him. He loved talking with anyone who had anything to say. He loved conversation and learning about other people’s lives, their travel experiences, their “likes”, their “dislikes” and their families. Because he was such a sociable person and loved meeting people, he often held jobs that allowed him to meet and talk with people and learn about them while hearing what they had to say.

Bruno was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal service order and was also a life member of the American Veterans.
