Bradley Afton Heaven passed away June 6, 2024 at the age of 59. He was born May 30, 1965 in Ann Arbor to Joseph Richard and Rita Mills (Kimbrough) Heaven. He is deeply loved and will be missed by the love of his life Nicole VanDerRoest, his mother Rita, his brothers, Tyler (Haidee) Heaven and Aaron (Gabriella) Heaven, his niece and nephews, Cameron Heaven, Lauren Heaven and Ryan Heaven. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph.
Bradley was one of first students at New Morning School in Plymouth where his mother was a Teacher. While at New Morning School, he was able to learn about a wide variety of his interests. While in middle school, he entered the Science and Engineering Fair of metropolitan Detroit by making an Atom Smasher and won 1st place in the physical science and chemistry divisions. For this, he received an award from the U.S. Army. Throughout his life, Brad was able to teach himself skills and become an expert at anything he pursued. Most areas that people would take years to master, he would just teach himself. He taught himself computer programming, car mechanics, crafting stained glass, and many more skills.
Bradley worked many years as a valued team member at Red Viking as a controls programmer. While at Red Viking, he was involved with automotive, aeronautical and defense projects. He loved to take things apart and put them back together. This created a great interest in steam engines of all types and how they worked. He loved to attend Steam engine conventions. He also enjoyed old cars and going to car shows around the State with Nicole. He loved to go out for dinner and especially loved having lunch with his mother. Bradley loved his family and spending time with them. He was kind, intelligent, loving and funny and will be missed by many.
