Barbara Jean Clark

Barbara Jean Clark, age 85 of Canton, Michigan passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025. She was born to Raymond and Lillie Petty in Hickman County, Tennessee, Barbara was the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Sharon, Tennessee, before the family relocated to Plymouth, Michigan, where Barbara attended Plymouth High School. Barbara was the last surviving member of her siblings—Rollie, Margaret, Lloyd, Dennis, Doris, R.C., and Jim.

Barbara was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Raymond Clark who passed away on June 23, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, R. Charisse (David House) Clark, bonus daughter Janet L. (Brad) Craig, and Stepsons Thomas M. Clark and Donald W. (Patricia) Clark. Barbara was the loving and proud grandmother of Mara (Roy) Belluz, Malia Whitfield, Miana (Zacharie Lauzon) Whitfield, Madeline Whitfield, John Whitfield; Katelyn (Nick Tooley) Kuyt, Benjamin (Brittany) Craig, Lauren (Nathan) Smith; Trevis Clark and Tristen Clark; Joshua Clark, Charlie (Fiancée Delaney Vida) Clark, Jonathan Clark, and Cara Clark. Great-grandchildren: Evan, Isaiah, and Eloise Belluz; Avionna Kuyt; Everlynne, Grayson, and Rowen Smith; Brooklynn Craig; and Kaden Clark.

Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her family, a loving sister, and later a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Barbara's grandchildren adored her. She was sweet, generous, and prone to giving them sweets and treats. Some of the nicknames they gave her were: Gammy Num-num, Griminy, G Money, and of course Gramma. The grandchildren loved her gardens which she faithfully maintained until weeding became too difficult. Some of their best memories include sitting on her screened-in porch, chasing fireflies at night, and playing dress up with her jewelry. She loved baking banana bread for Katelyn, Benjamin, and Lauren.

In 1985 Barbara was hired by Northwest Airlines as an International Reservation Agent. Even after retirement, she maintained strong bonds with her colleagues, gathering with them each year after Thanksgiving for a mini reunion—a testament to the lasting friendships she nurtured throughout her life. Barbara’s warmth, kindness, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew her.

She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her strong faith, and her commitment to maintaining lifelong friendships. Her generous spirit and gentle nature will be deeply missed.
