Arthur “Art” Gasiewicz Jr., a beloved friend in his community, passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on May 25, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, Arthur grew up in a Polish-Catholic family where he attended St. Juliana and De La Salle in Detroit for his education. He then went on to work for Ford Motor Company and Massey Ferguson. He soon discovered that working as an entrepreneur was more fitting for his life and he established Art Gasiewicz Enterprises. Art ventured into the land clearing, commercial landscaping, and the wood pallet recycling business. Later in life, he found work in maintaining soccer fields in the Canton, Michigan community.
Art enjoyed being on the water. He owned many boats over his lifetime. Art also made sure to have a pool at his home nearly throughout his whole life. Art had a love for Detroit sports, beer, international soccer, Star Trek, and old war movies. He also had a deep interest in WWII history. He liked playing card games and going “up north” for summer time getaways. He also had a soft spot in his heart for dogs.
Art's legacy is cherished by his two loving children, Karin (Jason) Stombaugh and Joseph (Lyndi) Gasiewicz. His family is extended to his grandchildren, who brought him joy. Logan Stombaugh, Ethan Stombaugh, Madison Gasiewicz, Olivia Gasiewicz, and Abigail Gasiewicz. In addition to his immediate family, Arthur is survived by his loving mother, Jane Gasiewicz, who remains a part of the family's story.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held in the spring of 2026.
Art will be deeply missed, not only by his family but also by everyone who had the privilege to know him. His kind spirit and generous heart will live in the memories of those that knew him.
