Let's take a minute right now to remember the spirit and wit of Anthony Michael Coscia. He was born with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy, but that was not the sum of all that he was. He had a very sharp mind and was quick with a joke or a zinger, which a lot of people did not fully appreciate or understand. Tony didn't let them or anything else define who he was because he knew who he was. His body image never defined him, but he had to eventually discover this for himself. He graduated from Canton High School in 1999, he was a big fan of Generation X music including but not limited to, heavy metal. Faith and Jesus were very important to him. Tony was 5th in line of a total of 10 Coscia kids. He enjoyed people that are honest, he despised liars, and cheaters. He took a stance against recreational drug use and he would hope that he made Jesus proud.
Tony realized that he did have his shortcomings; this obituary is not about trying to make him look good so people can admire him - he's just telling it like it is. Most obituaries give a complete sense of wholesomeness and/or sainthood, like something out of 'Leave it to Beaver' or 'Father Knows Best' and for the most part, that is not an accurate description of any of us. Yeah, that's nice if you want to say those things, but is the thing you're saying about the person accurate most times? It is not. All you're doing is playing up their good qualities and trying to bury the bad ones, which for him, felt like a bad joke that nobody laughs at.
Tony then took a moment to say something to his sister Cheryl who had already passed on:
"Sis - I will see you in a minute or two, remember that you can kick me in the butt when I get up there because I threw your obituary together in only a few minutes. I hope you were satisfied with it, but if you weren't, kick me in the butt when I get up there. Miss you!"
Tony is survived by: his parents Alicia Coscia, father, Charles (Anne) Coscia; grandmother Bernadine Mitchell; eight siblings and four step-siblings; Jon (Ivy) Coscia, Keith (Megan) Coscia, Melissa (Scott) Haller, Steve (Heather) Coscia, Maria (Chris) Doherty, Joe (Cari) Coscia, Dominic Coscia, Christopher Coscia, Sandy Kania-Maniac, Candy (Rob) Furlong, Danny Acosta, Tony Acosta; brother in-law Nate (Carla) Sears; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Sears.
