William James Buyers, III went to meet the Lord on April 25th, 2022. Bill’s final days were spent surrounded by the family he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, father, Marvin, stepmother, Edith, sister, Christine “Joan”, brother, Russell and granddaughter, Kaylee.
He will be forever remembered by his wife, Jacqueline, children William (Kristine) Buyers, LeAnn Decker, Robert (Amy) Buyers, Juliann (Scott) Tuthill and his grandchildren, Jacie (Christopher), Abigail, Eric, Kate (Nathan), Camille, Emma, Kira, Adam, Aaron.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, Papa and friend. He met his wife, Jackie at 16 years old and on their first date, he took her to church. He spent 61 years married to his true love and building their family with strong faith in Christ. Above all else, he dedicated his life to loving and caring for his wife and best friend, Jackie. He was a role model and example in all aspects of life.
He began his career as a rocket engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He was a member of the design team for the NASA space shuttle rocket engines in the 1960s. A mechanical engineer by trade, Bill was a hardworking man who always put his family first. He measured his success in life not by the accomplishments of his work, but by the accomplishments of his family. He enjoyed supporting his business that he created with his family.
His later life was enriched with his active membership in his Our Lady of Good Council church community. Bill served in ministry by delivering the Eucharist to the sick and increasing the beauty of his church with his signage.
A humble man with a positive attitude who went out of his way to make others laugh and smile. A serial entrepreneur, who loved sailing, camping, his family, his dogs and a good corny joke. His family and friends were beyond blessed to love Bill and be loved by him.
William will be in-state on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth. He will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
