Velma Mae Vaughn

Passed away on October 30, 2013 at Botsford Hospital at the age of 89. Velma was born in Leachville, Arkansas on October 19, 1924, the daughter of Charles E. and Margaret ( Williams ) Jett. The family moved to various locales in the south but at the age of 15 the family came to Plymouth. She graduated from Starkweather High where she met her future husband, Kenyon G. Olds. They married in 1942 and he passed away in 1973. In 1974 Velma married John R. Vaughn who also preceded her in death in 2006. Velma loved the out of doors and when she was younger enjoyed playing golf. Other enjoyments in her life included sewing, cooking and going to casinos and the race track. She is survived by her children Judith ( Walter ) Fitrzyk and Ken ( Trish ) Olds and step-daughters Patricia Vaughn, Johnine ( Donald ) Byrer and her grandchildren, Jeffrey ( Juli ) Fitrzyk, Laura ( Greg ) Ginter, Casandra ( Ryan ) Sergent, Jayme ( Tom ) Donagrandi, Karin ( Eric ) Frodel, Michael Byrer, Jonathan ( Kristen ) Byrer, Anne Byrer and Carrie Vaughn. Nine great grandchildren, Kassandra, Ryan, Adrianna, Maeghan, Logan, Cameryn, Gavin, Lucas and Elora and sister-in-law Polly Jett and nieces and nephews Kaye, Paulette, Perry, Philip and Ronald. She was preceded in death by her step son, David Vaughn. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. The family will receive friends at 1 pm.
