Ryan Christopher Bigelow

October 21, 1976 — March 18, 2022

It is with great sadness that the Bigelow Family announces the passing of Ryan Christopher Bigelow on March 18, 2022 due to complications of cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, children and close friends. Ryan was born on October 21, 1976 to Rev John and Judy Bigelow in Eagle River, Alaska. He was married to the love of his life, Amanda for twenty years. Ryan and Amanda have eight beautiful children. Emma, Caleb, Drew, Luke, Samuel, Ruthie, Violet, and Emilia. Ryan was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Ryan spent most of his career as an investment officer working for the State of Alaska for several years before moving back to the city of Detroit in 2011 to work as the Chief Financial Officer for the General and Police and Fire Retirement systems until he passed.

Ryan loved GOD and life. He loved to sing to the LORD in worship on Sundays with his family. Often while having to watch church online, he would be found sitting in the same place an hour after the service was over still singing worship songs. Ryan enjoyed a good snuggle time with his little girls. An avid sports fan he loved to watch a good game with his boys. He was a soccer dad; driving many of his children to practices, games and tournaments. He loved his wife and enjoyed spending long weekends away with her. Movies were a passion and family time was often spent enjoying a good movie together. The golf course was one of Ryan’s favorite places to be, spending many summer days playing 18 holes or more with friends. Mountain Dew, pizza and watching a U of M football or basketball game were just a few of his favorite things.

Ryan is survived by his wife Amanda, his eight children (named above), his four brothers, John, Brad, Marcus, and Corey, along with his mother, Judy Bigelow.
