Ruth H. Neil

Passed away at Independence Village in Plymouth Township on April 17, 2012 at the age of 96. Ruth was born in Detroit on April 4, 1916 the daughter of James and Minnie ( Moelke ) Bowman. Her early years and schooling were spent in Detroit where she meet her husband who lived across the street. She married Jack Neil in 1935 and they were married for 46 years, Jack passed away in 1981. Ruth dedicated her life to her husband and their three children. Some of her other interest included quilting, counter cross stitching, bowling and horseback riding. Along with her husband they loved to sing in their church choir. Ruth is survived by her three children, Cathleen ( David ) Mills, Donald ( Barbara ) Neil and Carol ( Don ) Strand. She is also survived by grandchildren Lori ( Kevin ) Driscoll, Kirsten Strand and the late Paula Strand as well as great grandchildren Nina Hirsch, Brighid Driscoll, Brenden Driscoll ( United States Marine Corps ), Liam Driscoll and the late Amanda Driscoll. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Wednesday from 5pm until 9pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11am with Pastor Jeffery Noble of Praise Baptist Church of Plymouth officiating. Later she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Glen Eden Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to Praise Baptist Church, 45000 North Territorial, Plymouth, MI 48170.
