Ramona A. Greenler

June 5, 1926 — January 15, 2021

Ramona (Clark) Greenler passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was 94.

Born on June 5th, 1926 in Holgate, Ohio, Ramona was the daughter of Alva B. and Neva E. (Long) Clark. Growing up on the family farm, she learned the benefits of hard work and putting in long hours.

Ramona married her childhood sweetheart, Robert John Greenler right after high school on August 24th, 1944. Several years later they had two daughters. After several relocations, the family settled in Ohio. As young children Patty and Joyce were always under foot learning the ways of their loving and devoted Mom. With a patient, kind, and caring heart, she was a “stay at home” mom, spending most days taking care of the girls and her loving husband. As the girls got older and moved away, Ramona switched her passion to Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). One of Ramona’s favorite things to do in DAR was to greet the new U.S. citizens when they were sworn in during the Citizenship Oath Ceremony. She loved the music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, along with listening to the radio while quilting, doing needlework, sewing, and cooking. Her hands were rarely still. She was famous and well known for her “Gramma Cinnamon Rolls” among many other favorites.

Ramona’s positive impact and legacy will be carried on by her loving family. Her survivors include daughters, Patricia E. Cotten and her husband Steve of Oklahoma, and Joyce A. Houtteman and her husband Robert (Bob) of Michigan, grand-children Matthew Houtteman and his wife Kelly, along with Todd Cotton, Alan Cotten and his wife Jessica. Great-grandchildren include Lucy and Michael Houtteman, and Caleb Cotten. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death were her husband, Robert John Greenler, her sister, Helen McMaster and brothers, Robert and James Clark.
