Norman Gordon Hansen

December 18, 1937 — May 4, 2020

N. Gordon Hansen was born December 18, 1937, in Detroit, MI, to Magnus Hansen and Anna (Jensen) Hansen. A first-generation U.S. citizen of strong Danish heritage, he was an active, devoted family man of faith and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On May 4, 2020, the Lord called him to his Eternal Heavenly Home where his ailing earthy body of 82 years gained restored wellness once again.

He is survived by his loving wife Karen (Kroll) Hansen of 54.5 years, and his cherished, dedicated daughter Natalie. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn (Hansen) Larson, Brother-In-Law Robert Kroll, Sister-In-Law Dolores (Merians) Kroll, 7 nieces and nephews, and numerous supportive cousins throughout the U.S. He was preceded in death by his beloved Father and Mother, as well as his Father-In-Law Harry Kroll, Mother-In-Law Clara (Hoeft) Kroll, and Bother-In-Law Ken Larson.

Gordon grew up in Detroit, MI, graduating from Mackenzie High School, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army for active duty in the Secret Service Division. On Sweetest Day, he met the love of his life, Karen, and married her September 25, 1965. He attended Henry Ford Community College earning his Associates of Science Degree in Electronics, and later enrolled and graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Gordon proudly served as a Product Design Engineer at the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn.

He was an active charter member in many capacities at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia for as long as he was able, including Elder for 16 years. He loved mapping out trips and vacationing with his family far and wide, touring 3 continents. Photography, cars, Lionel Trains, building and repairing things, baseball and hockey, puzzles and games were some of his hobbies and past times. Gordon was a tenderhearted, genuine, supportive, patient, and gentle man who will be dearly missed by his wife and daughter, and numerous family and friends.

Immediate family and friends may gather at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main St., Plymouth, MI, on Friday, May 8, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. for invited guests. A private burial and graveside service will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI. In observance of the guidelines from the State of Michigan at this time, due to the present COVID-19 situation; please note, that all guests in attendance of this service are encouraged to wear a mask and practice physical distancing of 6 feet for the safety and well-being of each individual's health.

Memorials may be designated in Gordon’s name to either Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church – 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI, 48154, OR to Lutheran High School Association for “Lutheran High School Westland” – 1100 Bagley Dr., Rochester Hills, MI, 48309.
