Maxine Hobson

April 15, 1926 — March 20, 2012

Maxine Hobson, age 85, passed away with her family beside her on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Maxine was born in Detroit, on April 15, 1926, the daughter of Lawrence and Rosa (Kirby) Fitzpatrick. Her early years were spent in Detroit, where she attended the Detroit Public Schools until she met and married her husband, Aaron. They were married in 1942, and shared 40 years together raising a family of nine children. Aaron passed away in 1982. Maxine was deeply involved in the various churches she attended over the years, among them Grace Baptist in Livonia, and Central Baptist in Plymouth. Other interests included a love of baking, embroidering and knitting. At one time during her life, she worked alongside her brother, James, at a machine shop in Ferndale. Yet her greatest joy in life was her husband and family, which has grown four more generations beyond herself.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Doug) Ford, Mark (Diane) Hobson, Thomas Marvin (Gloria) Hobson, Christine Hobson, Michael (Noella) Hobson, Marilyn Cathleen (Joe) Praski, Matthew (Christine) Hobson, and Robin Micah (Traci) Hobson; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan.

Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, on Thursday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Friday from 12 noon until 9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 11 am with Pastor Christopher Wass of Southside Baptist Tabernacle of Ypsilanti officiating. Interment at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia.
