Mary Rose Olech

October 19, 1956 — October 2, 2019

Mary Rose Olech, age 62 of Canton passed away on October 2, 2019. Mary Rose is the beloved and devoted wife of James Olech. They were married 38 years ago on July 3, 1981. She is the loving and adoring mother of Kimberly Olech. Mary Rose is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her mother, Antonia Portelli, her siblings, Yvonne (Charlie) Vella, Raymond (Rita) Portelli, Gaetano Portelli and Josephine Shrimpton. She also leaves behind her much-loved, companion dog, “Señor Guapo”. Mary Rose was preceded in death by her father, Carmelo Portelli and her brother-in-law, Robert Shrimpton.

When it came to cooking and meal preparation, Mary Rose was an artist. No matter what she prepared, it was always a crowd pleaser. It made her happy to please others when she heard “this is so amazing”, or “this tastes wonderful”. She could mix her ingredients with her imagination and always make a delicious meal.

Mary Rose was not only an artist in the kitchen, but was meticulous in her dress and sense of fashion. Fashion is another art form that allowed her to look and feel her best at all times. All who knew her would say how lovely she looked at all times. She knew how to present herself according to every situation or occasion and she did it in her own unique style.

The same applied to Mary Rose’s home. A beautiful home doesn’t just happen. It takes great time and planning to make a beautiful home a reality. She had a true passion for decorating both indoors and outdoors. Holidays and special occasions inspired her decorating style. She had the ability to create a look and transform a room into an amazing living space. She loved maintaining their beautiful home on a daily basis and welcoming guests.

It takes a special kind of person to fully commit to the lifestyle that comes with being a “sports mom”. To say Mary Rose “never missed” one of Kimberly’s sports activities was an understatement. From the time Kimberly began her athletic activities from grade school and on through to the collegiate level, she hustled from game-to-game enthusiastically cheering on Kimberly and her team from the sidelines. She was Kimberly’s biggest fan and everyone knew it. No matter how intense the sporting schedule, she was there and nothing could keep her away.

Mary Rose took the time to contemplate the beauty of the earth and her surroundings. She enjoyed being outside with nature. She had a deep appreciation for blue skies, golden sunsets, a gentle breeze, a soft rain and the songs of the birds in the trees.

Helping isn’t always easy, but Mary Rose made it look very easy and was always there with a heart of gold and a smile to anyone in need of her help. She could always seem to find time and make herself available when a family member or friend was in need.
