Jimmy Jenkins, Jr.

June 11, 1968 — November 21, 2020

Jimmy Jenkins, Jr. age 52 of Plymouth, passed away on November 21, 2020.

Jimmy was born on June 11, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan to Jimmy and Sandra (Hughella Thompson) Jenkins.

Jimmy is the beloved husband of 21 years to Susan (Boice) Jenkins; the loving and caring father of Jesse Jenkins, Maxim Jenkins, and Leo Jenkins. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his father, Jimmy Jenkins, Sr., his sister Sara (Kenneth), nieces and nephews, Hayden, Katlyn, Jackson, and Parker. Sister-in-law Jennifer (Barry) Beljak and nephews Simon and Sebastian. He is predeceased by his mother, Sandra.

Before anything else, Jimmy loved his family. He frequently said that his children were his greatest accomplishment. He loved supporting his children’s activities while attending baseball games, dance recitals, school dances, marching band events, going on camping trips, and was very active with the Boy Scouts. When relaxing at home, Jimmy loved to read, frequently raiding the public library to carry an arm full of books home to do so. He loved fiction, and had an extensive library. The written word made him feel good and he enjoyed getting lost in a good story. He was also an avid drummer, he always insisted they were the most important instrument in the band; that they were the beating heart of music. He would play his drums in such a way that it was almost impossible not to smile or chuckle to yourself, amused at his jam sessions. Jimmy tried to put service before himself in all he did, and served his nation in the United States Navy from 1987 to 1990 and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class as a Salvage Diver for four years before being honorably discharged. He was an employee of Ford Motor Company for 23 years.

A funeral service will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Saturday, December 5, 2020 beginning at 12:00 P.M. led by The Reverend Father Anthony Camilleri. The Visitation for family and friends (of which Jimmy had many) will begin at the conclusion of the Funeral Service until 9 P.M.

Burial will take place Monday, December 7, 2020, 11:00am at Rural Hill Cemetery, 215 W. Seven Mile Rd., Northville, MI 48167.
