James H. Stoops

February 1, 1949 — November 11, 2019

Jim H. Stoops, age 70, of Canton, passed away on November 11, 2019. Jim was born in Northville, Michigan, to Julius and Stella (nee Burden) Stoops.

Jim is the beloved and devoted husband of 52 years of Wilma Stoops. They met when they were 15 years old and he means the world to her. Loving father of three, Scott Stoops, Tracy (Tammy) Stoops, and Nicole (Ryan) Cramer. He is also the proud grandfather of Jaxon Wilson, Angelise Wilson, Cassandra Stoops, Griffin Wilson, Rylan Cramer, and Ciera Cramer. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his siblings, Jeane Pyle, Reta Bost, Alice (Bud) Johnson, Ruth Ann (Jerry) Tidwell, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Little.

The fall time is a favorite of Jim’s, as it marks the beginning of football season, the bowling season, and the month of October brings Halloween, which is one of Jim’s many passions. Jim is an avid bowler, he is the president of two senior bowling leagues and he bowls three days a week. He is also a huge fan of Michigan football and the New England Patriots. Along with all of these hobbies, Jim has a special place in his heart for Halloween. Putting his own personal touch to his favorite holiday, Jim hand-makes most of his own Halloween decorations, including a giant, animatronic spider and a replica of Michael Myers from the movie, “Halloween”, which replicated the stabbing movement. Along with his passion for Halloween, Jim also loved the work he did at Ford Motor Company, while employed in the area of Material Control. Since he has such a fondness for the Ford Motor Company, it is no surprise that he put a plate on his Ford tractor that said, “Jim’s Toy”.

Because of Jim’s love for Polo shirts, the family requests anyone who wishes to wear a Polo Shirt to please do so to the visitation and/or funeral service.
