Ida Houk

October 23, 1940 — July 22, 2020

Ida (Houk), age 79 of Livonia passed away on July 22, 2020.

Ida was born on October 23, 1940 in Detroit to her parents John and Daisy (Vaccaro) Bommarito. She is the mother of two children – Dawn (Roger) Runyan and John (Jill) Colling; proud grandmother of Erika (Justin) Fiebiger, Michael Runyan, Holly Runyan, Amber Colling, Julie Colling and Jamie Colling and great-grandmother of Fallon Fiebiger. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her sisters, Marie (Dana) King and Arlene (Ron) Torakis. She is pre-deceased by her sister, Dora VonBuskirk.

Ida was known to love Las Vegas. Everyone has their thing, Vegas was Ida’s. If she wasn’t in Vegas she had a trip planned. To hold her over, she would go to the casinos in Detroit or Windsor, with Ron and Arlene and her dad. A typical day for Ida was to get up every morning and go have breakfast at Leos Coney Island in Canton and chat with the locals and the waitresses. She would then stop at the store to take home some chocolate for “later” where you might likely find her watching the “Godfather” or “Big Brother”. She would finish most days by taking a long bike ride or taking our family dog, Zak, for a walk.
