Glenna Kaye Merillat

June 2, 1937 — June 30, 2020

Glenna Kaye Merillat, age 83 of Plymouth passed away on June 30, 2020.

She was born in Plymouth on June 2, 1937 to her parents, Estle F. and Vivien J. (née Smith) Merillat.

Glenny grew up in Plymouth living on Main Street for nearly eighty years. She first worked for Michigan Bell as Editor of the “Bell Chatter”. After that, she had a long history with the Observer Newspapers. She was an Editor for the Plymouth Observer, had a column entitled, “Tell It to Glenny”, served as the Woman’s Editor and then as the Creative Services Director for the “Observer and Eccentric Newspapers”.

She retired in 2007 after 41 years. She also used her editing and graphic design skills while being a member of Zonta and also working on “The Bucket Fillers” educational newsletters. She enjoyed knitting, all art media, gardening, listening to music and taking photos of flowers and landscapes at the Henry Ford Greenfield Village and Museum.

The last few years, she shared her beautiful smile while living at Sunrise of Northville where she also edited the newsletters. Her quick wit, great sense of humor and fun-loving spirit will be greatly missed.

She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her cousins, Lary (Barbara) Smith and Janellen Evans, brother-in-law, Ford (Evelyn) Wright and her niece, Wendy Wright.

A private burial service will be held for family only when Glenna is laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth alongside her parents.
