George L. Dingeldey

June 27, 1939 — July 20, 2015

George was born in Canton on June 27, 1939. He was the fourth of nine children from a longtime Canton family. On Monday, July 20, 2015, George ended his battle with complications from Alzheimers, but passed peacefully with family and the caring staff of St. Mary's Mercy hospital in Livonia. Those of us who were close to George knew he was a jokester with an incredible sense of humor. He deeply loved spending time with his family and friends. He was proud and passionate about his 32 years of employment at Delta Airlines. He enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Florida, loved travel, tractors and his gardens. He was preceded in death by: his parents Philip and Bea Dingeldey who were long time Canton farmers; his deceased wife of 39 years, Bonnie Shade, and two brothers, Bud and Jim. He is survived by: his siblings, Jake, Bill, Richard, Billy, Karen, and Diane; his beloved and kind partner Judy Wilkin; children, Michelle, Debbie and Scott (Nicole). He was a proud Grandpa to Nick, Tyler, Zach, Hannah, Hailee, Kamrey, Nolen and Isabelle. Funeral Services will take place 11am on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2pm until 8pm. He will be laid to rest at Sheldon Cemetery in Canton next to his beloved wife. Donations in his honor can be made to the Canton Historical Society.
