Esther E. Wisman

March 19, 1917 — February 11, 2014

Esther E. Wisman passed away February 11, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born March 19, 1917 in Nankin Township, Michigan to William and Bertha (Sauer) Schmittling. Esther's beloved husband Donald passed away in 2011. She is survived by her dear son George and his wife Dotty and grandson Mikhail Wisman. Esther is also survived by her sister Irene Favors. She was preceded in death by 7 siblings. Esther was a homemaker and also worked for a time at Industrial Wire in Wayne. Her work there was mostly secretarial but also acted as the company nurse when a worker suffered an injury. She lived for several years with her son and was formerly a many year resident of Plymouth. Esther was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Esther grew up in a large farm family where she learned to be a wonderful cook. She would say after one meal was finished it was time to start preparing the next one. Esther and her siblings hand shaped bricks for the family home. At one time the family home burned down and she helped pull nails from the debris that were used in rebuilding. She was the first in her family to graduate from High School. Esther was also an excellent seamstress. She loved sewing and quilting as she was very artistic. A Funeral Service will take place Friday, February 14, 2014, 11am at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1343 Penniman Ave, Plymouth with Pastor Paul Schaefer officiating. Friends may visit Friday at church beginning at 10:30am and Thursday 4pm until 9pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth.
