Dorothy Moszynski

February 19, 1923 — September 22, 2021

Dorothy Moszynski, age 98 of Plymouth, MI and Winnetka, IL, passed away on September 22, 2021.

She was born on February 19, 1923 in Romania to her parents, Walter and Katherine (née Bainski) Yovanovich. She moved to Canada at age 13, where she lived until she settled in Michigan after her marriage.

Dorothy is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Ted Moszynski; loving mother of two children – Dora (John) Aalbregtse and Gary (Nikki) Moszynski; proud grandmother of Juliana and Lucas. She is also deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews - Bob (Sue) Yovanovich, Sandy (Ray) Landry, Kris (Mike) Myers, Tony (Cindy) Moszynski, the late Stanley Moszynski, and Darlene Moszynski, as well as by her grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She enjoyed visits with Heather (Scott) Murray, Evan and Eric Murray, Hilary Moszynski, Heather (Noe) Lucier, and Michelle Landry.

She was loved by all she met; she was gracious, loving, and possessed a great sense of calm. She was most devoted to her family and sensitive to the needs of others, always willing to contribute her time and energy. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. With her husband Ted, she enjoyed travel and instilled the same joy in her children.

Dorothy loved to create things of beauty. She had a great passion for flowers and gardening, passing on her love of nature to both of her children. Many hours were spent in her garden creating a beautiful respite to be enjoyed by herself and others. Her home was always filled with flowers.

Another great joy of Dorothy’s was sewing and designing a handmade wardrobe. She had a great eye for fabrics, color, and detail and quickly knew what would work best in her designs. When her children were young, Dorothy created a wonderful collection of clothes and outfits for them, which they fondly remember to this day.

While residing in Michigan and Illinois she was fond of attending the symphony. Dorothy had a deep appreciation of music and listening to music was part of her daily life. She especially enjoyed experiencing live music performances.

Dorothy was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth.

Her final seven years were spent living with her daughter and son-in-law in Winnetka. She enjoyed spending time in the garden, going to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Botanic Garden, and for the past couple of years seeing her grandchildren when they came for visits. She often said her life was full.
