Charles "Poppie" Raby

Charles “Poppie” Raby, age 86 of Putnam Township passed away on February 4, 2021.
Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Adam and Hilda (McCann) Raby.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Doris (Carlisle) Raby. She passed away on
April 27, 2004. He is also the loving father of James (Katrina) Raby, Scotty (Nancy) Raby,
Jeffrey (Crystal), Raby, Mark (Kelley) Raby, Michael (Cynthia) Raby and Shannon Raby; proud
grandfather of 19 grandchildren, great-grandfather of 21 and great-great-grandfather of 6.

Charles loved being outdoors enjoying nature and he loved to fish. His favorite fishing destination was Lake Nippissing in Ontario, Canada where his father took him as a young man. He began the tradition of taking his own family to the Canadian destination in the late 60’s. The trip was almost an annual event and he longed to return every year. As the years passed and his family grew, the trip meant even more to him when grandchildren were included in the destination. He loved to fish but what he loved more was having his family with him as those precious memories were being created. Charles also enjoyed attending horse shows. He was so proud of his grandchildren and watching them compete in the circuit brought a joy to him that was evident. He was also an avid car buff. He would often tell stories of the cars he owned and loved as a younger man. Charles demonstrated such a sincere love for his wife and family. He was a wonderful provider and he instilled the values and morals that guarantee a strong family unit into all his children and grandchildren. He was a stellar example for others to follow and will sorely be missed by all that knew him.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on
Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Charles will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Memorial Gardens in Livonia.

For those who cannot attend and wish to view the Funeral Service in a safe environment, the
funeral will be live streamed.



As of November 18, 2020, we are permitted to have no more than 25 people in attendance for
visitations and funerals. Please be advised that in observance of the Governmental Order from the State of Michigan and the current COVID-19 situation, when in attendance at the visitation and funeral service, we kindly ask for the safety and well-being of the families we serve, and for your health, that everyone practice social distancing and consideration for other guests in attendance. Masks are mandatory. Please refrain from handshaking and embracing family members and one
another.
