Charles "Chuck" Norris

August 29, 1933 — July 13, 2021

Charles “Chuck” Norris, age 87 of Plymouth passed away on July 13, 2021.

Chuck was born on August 29, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, Harry and Dorothy Mae (née Briggs) Norris. He is the beloved and devoted husband of 63 years to Carol Ann (née Marchewitz) Norris. They were married on August 17, 1957 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Detroit and would have celebrated 64 years of marriage next month. Chuck is also the loving father of four children – Mary (Rick) Miller, Clifford (Kathy) Norris, Catherine Englund and Christine Norris; proud grandfather of Lauren (Jesse) Parsley, Allyson (Matt) Hess, Marilyn (Stephan) Rose, Stephanie Norris and great-grandfather of Elliott, Emmett, Wade, Levi and Dean. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister and brother, Phyllis Bierl and Robert (Bonnie) Norris.

Chuck joined the United States Army in April 1953 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his discharge, he was a very proud United States veteran.

Chuck and Carol Ann have been residents of Plymouth Township for the past 45 years. They were blessed with four children, four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Before his retirement, Chuck owned and operated Aljer Electric, a company known best for repairing electric motors.

After his retirement, Chuck had more time to do some of the things he enjoyed most. He was an avid fisherman at his property on Buck Lake. He loved to go to estate sales to find the best deal of the day. This led to his interest in restoring old bicycles and his extensive collection of over 1,000 oil cans. Some even knew him as, “Oil Can Charlie.” He had a profound love of everything “planes” and frequently visited the Yankee Air Museum. Chuck was also an amazing cook. His family claims he was most certainly a “soup connoisseur.” He judged all restaurants by the quality of their soup. At 7:00 every night, he could be found in front of the TV ready to solve Wheel of Fortune puzzles followed by trying to outwit the contestants on Jeopardy.

Chuck’s family and friends will miss him and love him always. He will forever be a cherished part of their lives.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home beginning at 2:30 P.M.

He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
