Arthur Dean Ormsby

Arthur Dean Ormsby died December 20, at the age of 96. He was born June 5, 1921 to Roy and Ellen Ormsby. Dean is survived by his loving children, Janet Ormsby, S. Sally Ormsby O.P., Patricia (Rodger) LaPlante, Maureen (Don) Swanson, Richard Ormsby, Rosemary (Jeffery) Willman, his 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley, and his dear son David.


Dean proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy during World War II. In his free time, Dean enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Dean also loved sports, especially baseball. He played semi-professionally for many years, coached his son’s teams, and was a devout Tigers fan. Dean placed family above all else. He was greatly loved by many and will be deeply missed.


A Memorial Gathering will take place Friday, December 29, from 3-8 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main St., Plymouth, 48170. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 30, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 47650 N. Territorial Road, Plymouth, 48170 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends may begin gathering at the church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Angela Hospice.
