Arnold Allan Meissner

Arnold Alan Meissner passed away at his home with his family surrounding him on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the age of 70. Arnold was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 29, 1943 the son of Albert M. and Ann Theresa ( nee Kuszek ) Meissner. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo graduating Summa Cum Laude. After graduation he went to work for Ford Motor in the Light Truck Division in Dearborn for ten years leaving in 1982 to go to Carron & Company in Inkster from where he retired as C.O.O. in 1997. While at Carron, a company that was involved in prototype engineering for the Big Three, Arnold was involved in the development of the Plymouth Voyager minivan. After his retirement Arnold enjoyed working in his garage on rebuilding engines, working on his cars and attending car shows and rallies. He owned a 1994 Mustang which he supercharged with a Cobra engine, a 1993 Miata which he also supercharged and a Saturn Sky in which he put a Corvette engine. Arnold was also a master at carpentry work. He held memberships in the Great Lakes Cruisers Car Club, was an avid golfer with a membership in the Dearborn Country Club. He was a true " Buckeye " supporting Ohio State University. On July 11, 1969 he married the love of his life, Rebecca Jo Clement who survives him. He is also survived by his children Andrew Meissner, Audrey Meissner, Allysen ( Dave ) Esser and Alexander ( Emily ) Meissner. He was grandfather to Austin, the twins Charlie and Jack, Oscar and Hugh. Another grandchild is on its way, due in August. Arnold also leaves his brother Dave ( Carolyn ) Meissner and their children David, Mark and Todd. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 1 pm until 9 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10 am until time of the funeral mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road ( at Beck Road ) Plymouth. Contributions suggested to St. Joseph Mercy Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or stjoesannarbor.org/hospice
