Archie R. McLeod

Passed away peacefully at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Archie Ray Cameron was born in Highland Park, Michigan the son of the late Kenneth and Nina (nee Webb) McLeod on May 3, 1927. He attended Highland Park Schools and then shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a medic with the Army in Germany. Before joining the Army he began work with General Motors and then after his discharge continued working as a journeyman electrician. He worked for General Motors for 40 years retiring in 1989 from the Hydromatic Plant in Ypsilanti. Archie loved photography as a hobby and also enjoyed tinkering with his cars and working on his home and yard. In 1951 he married Norma H. Barnes and together they shared a 63 year marriage. Along with his wife, Archie is survived by his children Jean (David) Prophet, Kenneth (Sue) McLeod and Beverly (Keith) Miller. Lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren, William (Barb) Prophet, Greg Prophet, Michael (Jen) Prophet, Steven (Margaret) Prophet, K. C. McLeod, Juliana McLeod, Crystal (John) Rumbell, Brittany James) Kienker and David Miller. Sadly missed by six great grandchildren, Kayla, Breanna, Kolton, Alyssa, Jacob and Matthew. Visitation Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 13th, from 11:30 am until time of funeral service at 12:30 pm at Covenant Community Church, 25800 Student (just north of Five Mile and Beech-Daly Roads) Redford. If desired memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan would be appreciated.
