Ollie Bush

July 25, 1936 — June 20, 2017

Ollie D. Bush, of Plymouth, MI entered this world on Saturday, July 25, 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee to the proud parents of Ollie D. Bush, Sr. and Louise (Woods) Bush. Early on others recognized Ollie’s cheerfulness and willingness to give to others. Mr. and Mrs. Bush, their children Peggy, Ollie, Frances and Donald, soon established roots in Dearborn, MI. Ollie graduated from Fordson High School in 1954. As Ollie entered manhood, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He also met a wonderful gal, Janet Homewood, (1935-2005), who swept him off his feet. They married in 1959. Ollie and Jan experienced many adventures raising four children on a farm in Milford, MI. He and Jan were lovers of the great outdoors. They saw many wonders of the United States and other countries.
Ollie’s career as an industrial sales technical consultant, non-destructive testing field, allowed him to travel the world and take up residence in Detroit, Saginaw, and Milford, MI; Baton Rouge, LA; Elk Grove, IL; Sherman Oaks, CA; Vancouver, WA and finally Plymouth, MI when he married his second wife, Marilyn Tubinis, in 2006.
Ollie loved people and loved working with his hands. The Cedar Creek Grist Mill, Vancouver, WA, the house on Pingree Street, Detroit, MI and the home he and Marilyn purchased in Plymouth, are just a few of the many projects Ollie left his mark upon. Ollie honed his artistic talents in watercolor classes. His paintings are placed throughout Marilyn and Ollie’s Plymouth home.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, after a battle with Stage IV lung cancer and bone cancer, Ollie died at his home in Plymouth, MI.
